About Others – Case Studies
This business undertook software migrations from legacy office software platforms to the dominant Microsoft business productivity suite, platforms. Their clientele ranged across the board from corporates, public organisations to SME’s. The business was successful up until 2009 when the stock market crash dramatically reduced their workload and they almost went under.
By 2013 only the tail end of organisations that had not already moved to the newer platforms were available as target customers and many of them could have leapfrogged into the online Cloud solutions for a fraction of the cost of migrating.
Potestas were able to look at the overall Microsoft product suite range and match the company’s current skill areas to what would be require in the future with the introduction of cloud services. To match the income per assignment currently attainable, they would need to offer a far broader range of services over a longer engagement period.
It was clear to the business owners, from this assessment, that they would need to change direction in order to survive. They decided not to incur the added costs of increasing staff and skill levels but instead to sell the business to a larger systems integrator.
Getting into the right schools and attaining reasonable grades is every parents concern when considering their education and their future. The business process was all manual with the result it required a large staff and a 7 day a week involvement by the management, to keep the activities under control.
Our assignment was to map out a new process that could be automated by a software application and also used by the staff, with a minimum of upskilling. Part of the work entailed encouraging staff to use a computerised system and getting them to transfer the data from a paper based system to a database.
The owner of this business franchise had been trading successfully and increasing revenue, in his district for some time. The parent company (Franchiser) had been recently been bought and intended to increase the number of outlets, proposing to locate one close to the existing franchise. The shop location would significantly impact on his existing district and overall revenue.
We assessed the sales profiles in his existing district, over 3 years, based on house value, to ascertain different revenue amounts attributable to each suburb. We then applied this profiling to the adjacent district being carved out by the parent company. Using the revenue/ house price analysis results the client was in a position to more accurately forecast revenue and staff workloads.
The client bought the adjoining district franchise, with a minimum of overhead uplift. The result was a greatly increased revenue in the first year even with new shop fit-out and staffing costs deducted.
This was a start-up business based on offering to residences in London a variety of cuisines, from a selection of independently run local restaurants, as a take away meal. The customer would order, by telephone, from a combined menu, delivered regularly to their door.
Our task was to take the proposed service and automate the steps into a seamless, just in time software application that would provide an interface for the customer order, restauranteur and delivery providers. We were able to take away the worry of the software development, to a series of key milestone reviews, allowing the business owner to focus on the other parts of the business set up. This dramatically speeded up his time to market and the start of revenue income.
